We just bought a deep freezer for the garage and I couldn’t wait to organize it (never organized a deep freezer before so my head was spinning with ideas!). One of the tricks to organizing a deep space is using stackable bins with handles so you can easily get to the bottom contents. Here’s what I did:

Video Details

Hi everyone. So in this video, I’m going to share with you guys how to organize a deep freezer. So we just bought a deep freezer for the garage for all the extra meat. And when we bought it, I was just so excited to come home and organize it because I’ve never organized a deep freezer before and I get excited to organize like spots that are new that I’ve never done before. So yeah, that sounds kind of weird. But yeah, I’m just really excited to show you guys what I’ve done.

If you don’t have a deep freezer because I know like a lot of people don’t have a deep freezer then you can still watch the video and still get ideas for how to organize a space that’s really deep that you want to make the bottom items accessible.

Chest Freezer Organization – How to Organize a Deep Freezer

OK. So here is our deep freezer. I’m just going to quickly show you guys what it looks like then explain what I did here. So since this is my first time organizing a deep freezer and I was super excited, we got it and I think I spent like maybe three hours researching online like containers that would divide the space and make things easily accessible especially the things on the bottom because the space is so deep.

So I spent three hours shopping online but it was totally worth it because you can see how perfectly these bins fit. OK. Maybe there is like half an inch right here. There’s like no space right here. There’s no space right here. And there’s no space right here. So everything just fits perfectly and it just looks beautiful.

So let me show you guys what I did here. So since the space is so deep, I knew that I needed to get stackable bins with handles so I can easily like pull something up to get to things on the bottom without getting frustrated or without – yeah, I guess just getting frustrated. So when you have a deep space, you want to have stackable bins with a handle.

So what I did was I got these recycling bins that stack really nicely. They have these nice handle. I can just pull this up when I want to get to whatever is on the bottom. So just pull that up and then you can see I have two more recycling bins on the bottom that have handles as well.

So what I did was I sorted all of the meat. So I have ground beef here. The bin I just took out had steak. This is other meat and then there is ground beef down there also. But you can see that everything is totally accessible. Everything is categorized. And at the same time, I labeled all the packaging so I know when we bought everything. So this is bought October 2012. So I know when I’m coming to get it, I know if it’s still good because I can tell how long it has been in the freezer.

So everything is labeled. Everything is categorized. Everything is in accessible bins that are really easy to access. Again, if I wanted to get to that bin, I just pull this up and easily get to there and then just stack this on top when I’m done.

So the freezer actually came with this container. Now, it’s like a tiny container. You would think they would come with like another container but I guess they expect you to organize it yourself. But this container fits the chicken that we bought from Costco. It fits perfectly inside. So that’s where that goes. I’m just going to slide it over and show you guys what’s down here.

So there are two shoe boxes that fit again perfectly down here. And this one right here, I have all of my holiday baking ingredients that I freeze so they last longer so it’s like coconut, cranberries, pecans, almonds, and I think there is some walnuts in there and then the bottom shoe box has all of our ice packs.

So these are all like the small things that I felt like were just floating around in our main freezer in the kitchen and it was just frustrating me so much because I just kept seeing them and I don’t know, yeah, they were just all over the freezer. So they’re nice and contained in here at the bottom. They’re easily accessible. And then this sits perfectly on top and you can see that space is maximized. There is maybe like maybe one a half inches of empty space right here but it’s pretty much maximized.

So what you want to do when you’re organizing the freezer or the deep freezer or any cold spot in general is you want to wear gloves because your hands are going to get so cold and you’re going to want to get out of this place as soon as possible because your hands are just going to be super cold. So wear gloves when you are organizing this space.

So if you want to know where I got some of these products, you can check out my website, Alejandra.TV/products and you will see these recycling bins there and I will put a link at the bottom of the video as well.

OK. So those are my ideas for organizing a deep freezer or any space that is deep that you want to make the bottom items accessible. I hope this video was helpful. If you have other ideas on how to organize a deep freezer or a freezer in general, you can leave your comments below or create a video response and show us everything that you do in that space. I will see you guys soon. Bye!
